The Hon. Anthony James Fels was first elected to the Legislative Council as a Liberal member for the Agricultural Region in 2005, winning his seat from the Greens Party. With the strong swing achieved, his surplus votes also elected Hon Margaret Rowe for the Liberal Party. A keen supporter of free enterprise, farming and family values, his policies portray a strong passion for Western Australia, its land and people.
After several years of service - during which time he campaigned heavily to secure $30 million compensation for elderly victims of the finance broking scandal; and the prevention of daylight savings - the Hon. Anthony Fels made the decision to leave the Liberal Party prior to the election.
Mr Fels will stand in the coming election, renewing his commitment to the values on which he was first elected.
Stance
As an Independant Liberal, Anthony Fels continues his support of family values, free enterprise and rural Australia. His four-part platform focuses on:
WA should be receiving all Royalties from iron ore - not Canberra. My motion is already on the Notice Paper in Parliament for 10 August for debate.
Independent businesses and small enterprise will not benefit from the de-regulation of trading hours. For this reason and more, the people of Western Australia voted against Deregulation of trading hours in the 2005 referendum.
The government's lax attitude to finance broker regulation directly disadvantaged a great number of Western Australians, many of them in their retirement. A strict stance against shady brokers and con-men is important to the state's moral future. "Anthony Fels pursued the Government into finally paying $30 million to the elderly victims of this sorry saga."
Western Australians, particularly those in the rural areas that make up the Agricultural Region, have shown themselves time and time again to be in strong opposition to the government's Daylight Savings agenda.
I opposed the ALP and Liberals under McGinty and Buswell conspiring to fix public funding of political parties.
Both the Liberals and ALP now receive $2.31 for every vote they receive in the lower house, plus another $2.31 for every vote they receive in the Senate.
Stop wasting $4.62 to political parties, by simply not voting for them. Record your protest vote by voting Independent Group A candiates. We will donate every dollar received from public funding, to charity.

Branching Out
As the government and the opposition grow ever closer in policy and ideology, Anthony Fels sees the need for a strong independent political sector, representing the true wants and needs of the Western Australian voting public, separate from the major parties.
Initially planning to establish his own party, Mr Fels chose instead to stand with Group A Candidates (Independant Liberal), a group with a platform and an established support base similar to his own.
As an Independant Liberal, Mr Fels has the ways and the means to bring about effective political change, achieving a better way of life for Western Australians of all walks of life.
Vote Group A 1 Independant Liberal.
